What To Expect During Your Evaluation

We understand that seeking a diagnostic evaluation, whether for yourself or a loved one, can bring about a mix of emotions. After booking an appointment, you’ll receive a link to our secure portal, where you can complete questionnaires. These questionnaires are designed to help your psychologist gain a deeper understanding of your unique experiences, allowing us to provide the most thoughtful and personalized care.

We know it’s natural to feel a little nervous before an evaluation. You might be wondering about your psychologist, the questions they’ll ask, or what to expect during the two hours. Please know that many individuals, especially those with Autism, experience this anxiety, and you’re in a safe and understanding space.

At the Sachs Center, we’ve carefully selected our psychologists for their expertise in ADHD and Autism. They are not only highly knowledgeable but also deeply compassionate, particularly in recognizing the nuances of Autism and ADHD in girls, women, and non-binary adults who may utilize masking.

What to Expect During Your Evaluation

Your evaluation will begin with a gentle conversation, where your psychologist will listen attentively to your current and past experiences. Please feel free to share any notes or thoughts you’ve gathered beforehand.

Following this, your psychologist will guide you through a series of evidence-based questionnaires. We also include screenings for Anxiety and Depression, and if a parent is present, they will complete questionnaires for their child.

After the testing, your psychologist will thoughtfully discuss the diagnosis, if applicable, based on the information you’ve shared, your test scores, and their clinical judgment. Please know that this is an official diagnosis.

We also understand that receiving a diagnosis can bring up a range of emotions. Your psychologist will take the time to process these feelings with you, provide valuable information about Autism and/or ADHD, and offer resources to help you manage any related challenges. There will be ample time for your questions.

At the end of your evaluation, you’ll receive a letter confirming your diagnosis. If you’ve purchased a report, it will also be provided at this time. This letter can be used to access additional services, such as medication or accommodations. A superbill, containing the necessary insurance codes for reimbursement, will be emailed to you at the end of the month.

Here are the tests we often utilize in our evaluations, all of which are scientifically validated:

Autism: AQ, Monotropism Questionnaire, CATQ, EQ, Aspie Quiz, RAADS, and others depending on age.
ADHD: Brown EF/A, DREF EF, BASC-3, and others depending on age.

We’re here to support you every step of the way.

Warmly,

George Sachs PsyD
