Case Example
Michelle
Michelle always felt like a walking contradiction. Her autistic side craved precise routines, while her ADHD side felt trapped by them, leaving a trail of half-finished projects. Socially, she was either “too much,” impulsively interrupting with ideas, or “too little,” shutting down from sensory overload. She was labeled “inconsistent” and exhausted herself trying to “mask” as normal.
A severe burnout finally led her to the Sachs Center for an AuDHD diagnosis. It was a revelation: she wasn’t “broken,” she was navigating the internal push-and-pull of her brain.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about AuDHD testing
How do I know if I need AuDHD testing?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by life, facing consistent problems at work, constantly late for projects, struggling to meet deadlines, or having difficulty staying organized and focused, you may benefit from AUDHD testing. The Sachs Center specializes in helping adults understand whether AUDHD is causing their daily challenges. Adult AUDHD affects approximately 4.4% of adults in the US and can impact your job, personal relationships, and daily functioning.
What's the difference between the 2-hour AuDHD test and the 8-hour neuropsychological evaluation?
At the Sachs Center, we offer two testing options. The 2-hour Diagnostic AUDHD Testing focuses specifically on AUDHD, screens for anxiety and depression, and provides same-day results with a diagnosis letter for medication referral or workplace accommodations. The 8-hour neuropsychological evaluation is more comprehensive, includes cognitive testing (IQ), academic testing, memory, and emotional assessments. It’s typically required for standardized test accommodations (SAT, LSAT, MCAT) or university support.
Can I get my AuDHD diagnosis the same day?
Yes! With the Sachs Center’s Diagnostic AUDHD Testing option, you’ll receive your results and diagnosis (if applicable) within two hours of completing the assessment. You’ll also receive a letter with your diagnosis that can be used for medication referrals or workplace accommodations.
Is online AuDHD testing as accurate as in-person testing?
Yes, professional online AUDHD testing conducted by the Sachs Center’s licensed psychologists is just as accurate as in-person testing. We conduct evaluations via Zoom or Google Meet using evidence-based self-report tests and comprehensive clinical interviews. This is different from simple online quizzes, which are not diagnostic tools.
What happens during an AuDHD assessment?
At the Sachs Center, the assessment includes four main steps: (1) A 30-minute clinical interview with your psychologist discussing your current challenges, childhood experiences, work history, and family dynamics; (2) Review of AUDHD diagnostic criteria; (3) Evidence-based self-report questionnaires assessing impulsivity, executive functioning, attention, and focus; (4) Discussion of findings and diagnosis with your Sachs Center clinician, along with personalized treatment recommendations.
Why should I get tested by a psychologist instead of just seeing my doctor?
While a family doctor might spend 10 minutes asking symptom questions, the Sachs Center provides a comprehensive psychological evaluation that gives you certainty. Our psychologists are specifically trained in testing mental health challenges and use evidence-based diagnostic tools. This thorough approach helps you know with confidence whether you have AUDHD, avoiding years of frustration, incorrect medication, or missed diagnoses.
Will my AuDHD test screen for other conditions?
Yes, at the Sachs Center our AUDHD testing screens for anxiety and depression, as these conditions often overlap with or mimic AUDHD symptoms. We also consider other factors like mood disorders and medical conditions that can present similarly to AUDHD, ensuring an accurate diagnosis.
Do I need to involve family members in my AUDHD evaluation?
While not required at the Sachs Center, it can be helpful to have partners, family, or friends provide input through questionnaires. This additional perspective can help paint a more complete picture of your symptoms and challenges, especially since adult AUDHDers often learn to mask their symptoms over time. Our psychologists will guide you on whether this would be beneficial for your specific situation.
Can I use my AuDHD diagnosis to get workplace accommodations?
Absolutely! After your assessment at the Sachs Center, you’ll receive a diagnosis letter that can be used to obtain workplace accommodations. Our 2-hour Diagnostic AUDHD Testing includes workplace accommodation support and provides all the documentation you need to request accommodations from your employer.
What treatment options are available after my AuDHD diagnosis?
At the Sachs Center, treatment for AUDHD is multimodal and tailored to your needs. Options include psychoeducation, individual therapy, medication (if necessary), and holistic support strategies. Your Sachs Center clinician will discuss these options with you during your diagnosis discussion and create a personalized treatment plan to help you manage your AUDHD effectively.
