What is the original EQ-60?

The Empathy Quotient is a self-report about empathic responses. This version has 60 statements: 40 scored items and 20 unscored filler items. It is distinct from shorter EQ editions and from autism diagnostic tools.

How to answer and how scores are calculated

Choose Strongly agree, Slightly agree, Slightly disagree, or Strongly disagree for each statement using your own experience. Complete all 60 items. Keyed responses contribute 0, 1 or 2 points; fillers contribute zero. The result displays one raw 0–80 score and short explanation.

What can an EQ score tell me?

The total describes responses on this questionnaire, not your worth, compassion, or a diagnosis. Research-group comparisons are not an individual autism cutoff. Do not compare totals across different EQ editions or unrelated tools. Original-instrument research does not validate this site's automated result presentation.
