ADHD Adult Coaching: What It Covers, How Sessions Work, and Whether It Replaces Therapy
Coaching focuses on practical goals such as planning, routines and accountability.
Coaching does not require a full test battery
Coaching focuses on practical goals such as planning, routines and accountability. A formal diagnosis is not always required, and a full neuropsychological profile is not a universal prerequisite. Ask the coach about scope, training, fees and how progress is reviewed.
Coaching is different from clinical treatment. Persistent anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms or diagnostic questions deserve an appropriately qualified healthcare professional; a coach should refer concerns outside their competence.
Agree on the work before committing
Bring a practical goal and ask how coaching would address it. Find out the session format, support between sessions, privacy arrangements and what happens if the approach is not helping. A useful goal is observable and realistic for your circumstances.
Coaching can complement therapy or medication but does not replace them when clinical care is needed. Ask about coordination only with your consent and clarify the boundaries of each professional’s role. Review progress before committing to a lengthy package.

Focused testing and the separate $5,995 full neuropsychological evaluation answer different questions. Learning-disability, academic achievement and broader cognitive testing belong to the separately booked full service. Sachs Center is out of network and does not accept insurance directly. A superbill can be requested, but reimbursement depends on the plan. Confirm clinician authorization for the state where you will attend and any documentation requirements before paying.
